The important and religious function in a Hindu family especially in Brahmin Community was held in traditional manner at St.Louis, USA on 13-02-2011, Sunday for my sister Srividya, Nandakumar's son Akash, aged 8 Years old.
 It was celeberated as per in Indian culture  with a Prominant and Famous  Vedic Pandit  S.Y. Dikshitar, 40 Years Service @ New Delhi, 13 Years Service @ USA.

As per the religious aspects, it was celeberated as 5 days function.

1. 10-02-2011 : Sumangali Prathna
2. 11-02-2011 : Samarathanai
3. 12-02-2011 : Poorvangam
4. 13-02-2011 : Upanayanam
5: 14-02-2011 : Samitha Thanam

Sumangali Prathana

Sumangali prarthanai is a combination of shubha and punya karmams, performed when there is a wedding  in the family (either daughter or son),or before an auspicious function like poonal, seemantham etc.

If a female family member has passed away as sumangali, it is customarily performed on the day next to the devasam – annual function.

This function was celeberated with software engineers, friends circle family members and relatives as per the norm of 9 Sumangali ladies as sumangaligal.

It is a  special pooja for family deity, can be celeberated either before every auspicious function or after completion of the function which ever is convenient for us.

We have celeberated this function for Lord Venkateswara as our family deity, headed by  Vedic Pandit  S.Y. Dikshitar.

Poorvangam

 It is the function to celeberate for the upanayanam boy, the first day before the upanayanam with his parents headed by sastrigal with Navagragha & Kalasa Poojas & Nandhi.

Nadhi is also th part of the function which is to satisfy and to get blessings of pithrus.

It was well celeberated by us with all poojas & Nandhi.Nandhi was celeberated by us  by giving 9x5 dhoty pancha pathra uthirini and meals and dakshinai for 9 persons in traditional manner.

The highlight of the Nandhi which was attracted by all is all the 9  are  Software Engineers who were well coordinated with us and happily involved in the occassion.

Upanayanam

In the Hindu custom, Upanayanam is a rebirth to a man, when he is invested into spiritual life. If we invested ceremonially, it has its sanctity. However, We are free to chant Gayatri. Learn it from one who knows it.

We have celeberated in full fledged manner headed by the well suitable person  Vedic Pandit  S.Y. Dikshitar, as a Guru to teach Gayatri Mantra to Akash through his father.

Abishegam, Brahmopadesam, Bhiksha...everything went on well with blessings of large gatherings of relatives and friends circle.

The function ended with feast in Green Vazhai ilai with traditional menus like vadai, payasam etc., which was liked by all.

It is the function on the next day of the upanayanam, to give practise for  Gayatri Mantra & related formalities  and day-to-day Santhiya Vanthanam  to the upanayanam boy.

As per the procedure It was celeberated with homam and the training was given by the Pandit.
